Editorial Review for Rowdy Hall – by Jean Tang

In Short
From the people who own hot-spot Nick & Toni's comes the anti-Nick & Toni's. The oak-fitted pub, named after an 18th-century boarding house where artists happily imbibed, has the Hamptons' best beer list and a solid pub grub menu. In addition to the standard Guinness, Bass and Stella Artois, find microbrews from the award-winning Southhampton Public House and a solid collection of single malts. Burgers, steaks or the popular fish-and-chips round out the offerings.

Know Before You Go

Food portions are huge, so come hungry.

Fun Fact

The place takes its name from that of an old boarding house which artists were known to frequent at the turn of the century and where the scene in churchgoers' eyes was--you guessed it--rowdy.

Well let's see. Considering that I'm a west coast girl...the east coast is already over priced, but I was excited to come to this restaurant that was proclaimed by my relatives to be a great casual dining place. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait for our party of six. 40 minutes later we still had not been seated, and the mentally challenged hostess balked at our suggestion to move two smaller tables together. We almost left, but then decided to stay as another large party began to clear out. We had the touted "steak frite" and artichokes with each of our entrees costing over $40. Ridiculous. Service was lackluster, and my next summer in East Hampton will NOT involve visiting this establishment. Any pub in Portland, OR would serve better food, for less than half the price ANY do it with a smile.

Pros: Decent menu, selection wise

Cons: Pretty much everything else!
