Editorial Review for Vine Street Cafe – by Kara Zuaro

In Short
Tucked inland on peaceful Shelter Island, this cozy cafe is appropriately housed within a white-shingled ranch, complete with overflowing window boxes and outdoor picnic tables to accommodate its many devoted patrons. With starters like marinated beet salad and tuna tataki with wasabi, the food is at once simple, homey, and high-end. Roasted organic chicken, filet mignon au poive with crisp frites, and miso-glazed salmon are entree favorites, and most diners save room for some pineapple tart tatin or chocolate-coconut souffle.

User Reviews for Vine Street Cafe

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

12/21/2006 Posted by thebany

Fresh, delicious, Vine Street Cafe's cuisine is deserved of a devoted following. And it has. They serve local seafood always prepared perfectly as well as all organic meats and local vegetables. There are different specials every night as well. (Try Mondays: the Bouillabaisse is to die for...!) The decor is simple: this is not pretending to be an upscale French restaurant. It's the place you go to get away from the pretense, the place where you can kick off your shoes, don your flipflops and have a FANTASTIC meal. The staff is always attentive and friendly. It is a local favorite for a reason.

Pros: Food, ambience

Cons: None
