Editorial Review for Red Bar Brasserie – by Bryan Miller
The Scene
Part brasserie, part bar, it's difficult to categorize this stylish and wildly popular spot in affluent Southampton. The handsome, leafy dining room with attractive wraparound mullioned windows recalls Southern cities like Savannah and Charleston. Red bar can get loud at peak hours, but everybody is having such a good time that it hardly seems to matter.
The Food
The kitchen cranks out solid home-style cooking with an international twist. Highlights include truffled chicken breasts with mushroom risotto and French beans, "everything"-crusted tuna with Yukon potato frisee and mustard beurre blanc, and a lusty steak with french fries. Red bar is a rarity in the summertime Hamptons in that it actually trains its summer staff before sending them out on the floor, and it shows. Desserts, unfortunately, are little cause for celebration.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants in the Hamptons. Prompt seating, exquisite service, and mouth-watering food. Never a bad evening here.
Pros: Romantic atmosphere, lots of candlelight.

We've been to Red Bar numerous times, and taken countless guests there, and no one in our party has ever had a bad meal there. EVER. Literally every time we've been there, we've had fantastic food in a great atmosphere. Red Bar is by far the most reliable restaurant in Southampton, if not all of the Hamptons. However, reservations are a must, especially in the summer...this place is popular for a reason, so if you want to eat there on a Friday or Saturday night, you may have to call a week in advance. But it will be worth it!
Pros: Excellent Food, Beautiful Atmosphere, Relaible Service
Cons: Reservations a must, Not great for kids
